Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March, 1991. She's an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The label released her first album titled Pho in the month of October 2016, and she was able to gain recognition. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet back in 2012 after she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. She continued to upload her music online in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21, 2015. The following year, her music was circulating all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. On the 8th of December that she had signed with Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening performance. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16. The music video was followed by a video in September. On November 9 she dropped two more singles: forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On November 13 the singer released two new singles titled One and Pdigree. One or Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single the 26th of February, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed with Cole on her Creed II sound track on November 16. In February of 2019 her music video to the song was released. The track has garnered over 3 million YouTube views in just a single week. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
